I often get asked ‘how many pairs of shoes do you pack for vacation?’
Short Answer. One. As if it were that easy! Most of us (especially women) want/need a variety of footwear options based on the destination and activities during our travels. So, the long answer. Three. At most. Now, which shoes to pack on vacation?
Walking Around Town
You should always bring a pair of comfortable walking shoes or tennies. If you are really smart, you’ll wear these on the airplane to save room in your luggage. Make sure they are well worn shoes, not fresh off the shelf or you’ll end up with blisters.
A Night on the Town
If you vacation includes an evening out with dressy attire, bring a pair of black dress shoes or loafers. Black is a good neutral and will go with just about anything, even dresses up denim. Choose flats for more comfort and flexibility.
A Day at the Beach
Hooray for sandals. Whether you choose a flip flop or casual sandal, bring something that is water resistant or can dry quickly. Another smart traveler move would be to get a walking sandal that can be used at the beach and for more strenuous sight seeing.
Remember, you can usually buy what you need at your destination if you decide last minute you can’t live without, but wouldn’t it be more fun to fill out empty space in your bag with souvenirs?
